The Police Council presided by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR today June 4, 2021 at the First Lady’s Conference Room, Presidential Villa, Abuja has confirmed Ag. IGP Usman Alkali Baba as the substantive 21st indigenous Inspector-General of Police.
Speaking to newsmen at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, said the appointment of Alkali as IGP was unanimously confirmed. Alhaji Maigari further said that President Buhari has directed the IGP to ensure that insecurity in the country is brought to the barest minimum.
It is noteworthy that IGP Alkali before his appointment as the 21st indigenous IGP on April 6, 2021 by President Buhari had served in various capacities in the Force including Force Secretary and Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department.
