Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Oladapo Akinola for allegedly defiling his 5-year-old stepdaughter (name withheld).
According to the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged against him at Adigbe Police Station by the mother of the victim, that while bathing her daughter, she discovered blood in her private part, and on questioning the little girl, she was informed that her husband who happened to be the stepfather of the victim, had unlawful carnal knowledge of his stepdaughter.
On receipt of the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) Adigbe Police Station, SP Fatoberu Oyekanmi quickly detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested. And the suspect, a resident at Adewale Drive, Shokori Abeokuta, confessed to the crime.
The victim has been taken to the hospital by the police for medical treatment and report while the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution. He therefore, warned parents, especially mothers to always be watchful of their female children to protect them from being victims of sexual assault from irresponsible men.
