The Oyo State Police Command under the leadership of CP Adebowale Williams psc (+), fdc has made tremendous achievements to rid of crime in the State as police nabbed the abductors of Ex-Governor Akala’s aids, Dr. Abdulrasheed Oladoye and Mr. Taiwo Christopher Bakare who were abducted on the 16th and 22nd of July, 2022.
According to the Command Spokesperson, SP Adewale Osifeso, the following suspects were apprehended in connection with the crime: Anjola Abubakar, m, 25, Sani Abacha Abdullahi, m, 28, Sani Abacha Jafaru, m, 26, Sale Mohammadu, m, 25, Isah Seriki Muhammed, m, 25, Aliu Jafaru, m, 50, Umar Abubakar, m, 34, and Mustapha Baruguma, m, 20. The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and further investigation is ongoing.
SP Osifeso also said that CP Williams has rejigged the command security architecture to comprehensively tackle any security challenge in the state.
…Police Neutralize Kidnapping Syndicate.
Similarly, operatives of the Command attached to Iganna Divisional Police Headquarters have arrested a Kidnapping syndicate responsible for abductions around Iganna, Iwere-ile and Ijio axis under Iwajowa LGA. The suspects include; Umar Jale Usman, m, 56, Abdullahi Mohammed Sani, m, 42, Jamiu Jubril, m, 45, Kayode Kolade, m, 35, Leggi Usman, m, 28, Jamiu Iroko, m, 30, Sule Bello, m, 20, Umar Shuaibu, 20, and Kali Weti, m, 29.
The exhibits recovered from the syndicate include; one (1) Dane gun, one (1) expended cartridge, a detachable head hood (black), one pair of slippers, and the sum of twelve thousand naira (N12,000) only.
All suspects have confessed their various involvements in the commission of the crime and are presently helping the police with the ongoing investigations.
…Tracks Criminal Gang
In another development, operatives of the command based on credible intelligence have tracked and apprehended members of a criminal gang that specialized in carrying out coordinated robbery attacks on banks.
According to SP Osifeso, a preliminary investigation has revealed that the criminal gang comprising of Abass Azeez, m, 42, Mayowa Kehinde, m, 29, contract staff/marketer with a new generation bank, Rildwan Eniola, m, 33, Mistura Akinade, f, 33, Abass Aderoju, m, 41, and Akeem Adeniyi, m, 37, were all nabbed at Agara Odo-Ona in a hideout along Akala expressway, Ibadan after concluding plans to execute a bloody bank robbery attack on another new generation bank within the metropolis.
All the suspects have confessed their various involvements in the criminal operations which include arms procurement and clandestine intelligence gathering ahead of the proposed date of perpetrating the dastardly act.
SP Osifeso further said that comprehensive investigations are in progress to crack down on the criminal network and other accomplices.
Meanwhile, CP Williams has commended the good people of Oyo State for their cooperation while appealing to them to be generous with the provision of credible and timely information capable of nipping crime in the bud at all times to the police.
