Police Nab Suspect for Murder in Akwa-Ibom

Akwa-Ibom State Police Command has apprehended a suspect for alleged murder in Etim-Ekpo, Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State.

A press statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Odiko MacDon (anipr), noted that, one Ime Sunday Etukudo, of Omum Unyiam village in Etim-Ekpo Local Government Area of the State reportedly killed and buried his daughter, one Ofonmbuk Ime Sunday, 20, at the family Compound at Omum Unyiam Village.

The suspect was arrested after credible information was received by the Police in the Command and the suspect in his confession explained that, a fight erupted during a misunderstanding in the family and in the process the victim held his manhood which prompted him to in turn, hit her on the head with a stick. The victim died and the suspect decided to bury her in a shallow grave to cover-up his track.

The PPRO of the Command also added that, in an effort to carry out due diligence in their investigation, the police exhumed the body and preserved same for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi has ordered for an investigation and warned residents against resorting to self help. He assured that the suspect will have his day in court.

… Reiterates Commitment to fight Crime

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa-Ibom State Command, CP Olatoye Durosibmi, has reinforced the Command’s Security Strategy against crimes and criminality especially in the aspect of Kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, etc, within the State.

According to a press statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Odiko MacDon (anipr), the CP had warned that suspects of any crime should desist from the act or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

The PPRO further stated that, a kidnapper and armed robbery suspect was nabbed by the Officers of the Command.

Based on credible information received by the Command’s CP, he detailed his men to storm the hideout of the hoodlums in Ukanafun and One of the suspects, Emediong Nse Etuk, aka Mopol, allegedly responsible for kidnapping and robberies with his gang members in and around Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo, Abak and Environs was arrested while attempting to scale the fence.

Similarly, one Edet Uyo Ntung of Afaha Ediene Village in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State was arrested for the alleged murder of one Emem Monday Uyo, of the same address.

Investigation revealed that there was a lingering family feud, and the suspect who is the uncle and family head of the deceased victim allegedly lured him to his residence on the pretence of addressing the problem. But rather than addressing the problem he brought out his machete and chopped-off his nephew’s face, hand, neck and other parts of his body, leading to his instant death.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, frowned at crimes, warns perpetrators of heinous crimes to desist as the Command will spare no resources in ensuring that those involved are made to face justice.
